A perennial playboy with a strict age limit on his dating life finds his world turned upside down when his health forces him to slow down. Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) arrives at a Hamptons beach house for a romantic weekend with his much younger girlfriend Marin (Amanda Peet), only to have their getaway crashed by her mother, Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), and aunt Zoe (Frances McDormand). When Harry suffers a heart attack and is ordered to stay put, he finds himself under the reluctant care of Erica, sparking a complicated and surprising connection that challenges everything he thought he knew about attraction and age.
