Dish debuts AirTV with Netflix, YouTube and local channels
Dish Network has finally shed light on how it plans to bring local TV channels to its Sling TV internet TV service. Dish announced an Android-based streaming service Tuesday at the International CES Trade Show that will allow Sling TV customers to add free, live local broadcast stations into their guide using an external antenna. Viewers can switch between local channels and Sling TV content on the TV connected to the AirTV Player via HDMI without changing inputs. The AirTV also offers 4K. The 4K support will primarily grab content from Netflix and YouTube apps, but because the underlying platform is Android TV, there are other sources available. The AirTV Player with the OTA AirTV Adapter will sell for $129.99; a streaming-only version of the AirTV Player is available for $99.99.
